Founder of Towerkop Creations, Uga Carlini is a multi-award-winning director, screenwriter, producer, and actress known for bold, emotionally charged, and female-driven storytelling where heroine-centric narratives reframe survival, resilience, and transformation for global audiences.
Carlini’s acclaimed work includes Alison (Amazon Prime), based on a Penguin Random House South Africa bestselling memoir I Have Life, winner of multiple international awards and humanitarian honors; Angeliena (Netflix), a vibrant feature that garnered seven African Movie Academy Award nominations and a SAFTA win; and Beyond the Light Barrier (Amazon Prime), narrated by John Kani (Black Panther, The Lion King), celebrated with Best Feature Documentary wins across Europe, North America and Africa.
A 2025 Chicken & Egg Award nominee, 2025 GEMS Emerging TV Producer, and 2023 Academy Gold Fellowship for Women nominee, Carlini’s career spans across South Africa, the UK, Australia, Fiji, and now Canada. She is a proud member of the PGA, CMPA, DOC, and WGSA.
