Asis Sethi

An alumna of TIFF SERIES ACCELERATOR, WOMEN IN DIRECTOR'S CHAIR and a former PLAYBACK MAGAZINE's 10 to Watch, Asis Sethi is an award-winning South Asian Canadian filmmaker and the CEO of Fly Away Films Inc., a service production company with a diverse slate of projects that includes feature films, documentaries, and television series.

Asis’ career in broadcasting spans over 15 years as a producer and a host on lifestyle shows. Asis has created over 100 hours of content for television. Her 16-episode half-hour documentary television series on historical Sikh shrines in India, was funded by the OMNI DOCUMENTARY FUND. She produced a feature documentary on post-9/11 effects on turban wearers titled for OMNI Television. Her short film 'ROCK THE CRADLE', funded by the CANADA COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS, won several awards including 'BEST DIRECTING' at the WIFT+ Showcase.

Through CINEFAM's LIMITLESS program and CFC/NETFLIX CALLING CARD ACCELERATOR, Asis developed her feature 'SLAM DUNK, SEHAJ!', which won THE BIG PITCH at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2022. The proof of concept short film is now on CBC GEM.

Asis was chosen as one of the 25 pitch participants for the NETFLIX BANFF DIVERSITY OF VOICES Fellowship for the BANFF WORLD MEDIA FESTIVAL 2023.

Currently, Asis is part of the REELWORLD PRODUCERS PROGRAM and serves as the Co-President of the South Asian Canadian Film Federation (SACFF). She also mentors at WIFT Toronto, OYA Black Arts, Creators of Color, and the M Film Lab.
