Priyanka Desai

Priyanka Desai is a Broadcast Journalist turned Content Producer who specializes in documenting stories that impact and entertain. Starting as a news reporter in Mumbai, Priyanka focused on stories about youth and women issues. In response to a gruesome sexual assault case in India, she produced a debate show ‘Because, It’s a Boy!’ that won the United Nations Populations Fund’s Laadli Media Award for Gender Sensitivity. She has worked in a variety of roles spanning Producer, Executive Producer, Creative Director, TV Show Host, Story Producer and Production Manager in India and Canada.

Since moving to Canada (2018), her credits include Moosemeat & Marmalade, Red Chef Revival, Ready to Rock, among others for the likes of Telus Originals, Storyhive, Aboriginal Peoples’ Television Network, Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada and Accessible Media Inc. In 2019, she was selected for the CMPA BC Production Mentorship Program and got the opportunity to learn from Erin Haskett

(Lark Productions). She was among the 21 selected producers for National Screen Institute’s Business for Producers Program 2021. Currently, she is Production Manager for Moosemeat and Marmalade (TV Show) and serves as a Board Member to Documentary Organization of Canada’s BC/YK/NWT branch.

Priyanka is known for her meticulous understanding of different audiences and cultures spanning across continents. As a South Asian immigrant woman, she constantly strives to challenge the culture of silence and gender disparity. She strives towards eradicating barriers created by systemic bias, to enable immigrant women of color like herself to achieve professional excellence.
