Tanis Parenteau

Tanis Parenteau is an actor/producer and member of the Métis Nation of Alberta (Cree). TV credits: recurring/guest star on Billions opposite Paul Giamatti, FBI: Most Wanted opposite Julian McMahon, Designated Survivor opposite Kiefer Sutherland, and House of Cards opposite Michael Kelly. Upcoming, Tanis will appear in Gossip Girl, season two of Tribal and the soon to be released Telefilm funded feature Rehab opposite Tahmoh Penikett and Jennifer Podemski. NYC theatre: Manahatta (The Public Theater), Smoke (Signature Theater), Glenburn 12 WP (59E59 Theaters), Material Witness (La Mama). Regional: Manahatta (Oregon Shakespeare Festival). Tanis does voice over work and narrates audiobooks for Penguin Random House, Audible, Hachette and Simon & Schuster. Her production company, TDEP Productions, focuses on decolonizing the entertainment space by uplifting contemporary Indigenous stories by Indigenous writers, smashing harmful Indigenous stereotypes and creating opportunities for Indigenous people in the entertainment industry. Her inaugural film A Big Black Space won Best Canadian Short at Dreamspeakers International Indigenous Film Festival, the Royal Reel Award at the Canada International Film Festival and was nominated for Best Live Action Short at the 12th Red Nation Film Festival. She is currently developing multiple Indigenous-led series and features. Tanis is on the SAG-AFTRA National Native Americans Committee, a member of the North American Indigenous Center of New York, the Tribal Liaison at AlterTheater, a board member of Peace Region Independent Media Arts Association and freelances as a casting consultant/assistant.
